New for Escapade 2019, an experiment! Do you have crafts that you’d like to share with convention goers but don’t want to commit to missing out on the convention to sit in the dealer room? Do you find yourself at a loss for something to do before the con starts on Friday? I have a small scale solution to these dilemmas. Announcing the first (but we hope not last) Fan Fair! Fanfare? Fair Fans? FanFair!!

NakedBee has kindly offered the art room for this experiment. Since it’s the first year there will be no per table charge, so you’ve got nothing to lose. Set up will be Friday morning 8-8:30am, and the fair will run until 12pm, at which time we need to have the art room cleared of everything.

So bring your stuff and show it off. It does not have to be fannish. Any interest contact me at barbanabarbana@gmail.com and I’ll start making a list. If it’s a lot of you, we may have to go to 1/2 tables; I’ll be keeping you in the loop.

We are less than 6 weeks away from Escapade 2019! Are you getting excited? We are! The con comm is meeting regularly to plan all the things you look forward to and love about Escapade: the panels, the art show, the vid show, the Friday night party, and all the little details that make the weekend run smoothly.

We wanted to remind you about a few things you can do to get ready for Escapade, too!

· VOTE FOR PANELS! The deadline for panel voting is tomorrow, January 15, at midnight PST. Vote for the panels you want to attend, and volunteer to moderate panels, via the Escapade panel ballot. Remember that panels with moderators are more likely to make the final cut! You must be logged in to vote.

· BOOK YOUR HOTEL ROOM! If you haven't yet booked your hotel room for Escapade, you can do so through the link on the Escapade website to get the special con rate, or follow the instructions on the hotel page to register by phone. The deadline to book your hotel room at the con rate is February 1. If you need to connect with roommates for the con, check out the comments on the Rides and Roommates post on the Escapade website or leave a comment of your own.

· REGISTER FOR THE CON! Did you know you can still register for Escapade 2019? You can! If you've been meaning to get around to registering, you can do so easily and quickly through the Escapade store. If you're within driving distance and can't make it for the whole weekend, don't forget the single day membership options.

· NOMINATE OR DONATE TO THE ESCAPADE SCHOLARSHIPS! We have several scholarship options available. If you know someone who can't attend Escapade due to financial difficulty, check out the scholarship page and consider nominating them. And if you have a little extra cash on hand, consider donating to the scholarship fund to help someone join us at the con.

It’s voting time! The Escapade panel ballot is open now and will close at midnight PST on Tuesday, January 15.

How does this work, you ask? Easy!

First, log in to your account on the Escapade website, then go to the Panel Ballot page, which can be reached from:

1) button on the home page,

2) button on the Panels page

3) via direct link (once you’re logged in):

Then, once you’re there, follow the instructions on the page to tell us which conversations you’d like to see on the schedule! You can also volunteer to moderate panels when you vote, and remember: panels with moderators are more likely to make the final cut.

Have a hot topic you weren’t able to submit before the suggestion deadline? Just now struck by inspiration? You have one last chance to submit a panel using the “Write In Panel Suggestion” tab.

The deadline to suggest topics for panels is this Monday, December 24.

The con comm is busy discussing and planning and getting ready to make Escapade 2019 a super fun time for all of us! The con is just over two months away, and we wanted to remind you of a few things you can do to get ready for the con and help make it the experience you want it to be.

Book your hotel room! The con rate is good until February 1, 2019. But it frequently sells out early, so don’t delay!

Submit your panel suggestions! Escapade panels are good because of the ideas submitted by Escapade members. You guys make Escapade panels fun and interesting and topical and invigorating. Go read about panels that other fans have already submitted, and submit your own ideas to make sure the conversations at Escapade 2019 are conversations you want to have!

Nominate someone for an Escapade scholarship and donate to the scholarship fund! By participating in the Escapade scholarship program, you can help bring someone to Escapade that might not otherwise be able to attend, or a new attendee that you know would have a great time.
