The Escapade Genius Lounge

Once upon a time, fandom was ‘zines, phones, house parties and cons. These days, fandom is tech: social media, online story archives, vidding and online vid storage—even registering for conventions and con updates. Escapade aims to make tech as accessible to fans today as it made zines accessible to fans a thousand (okay, 26) years ago. Tech-smart attendees, and people who are experts on any topic at all, stand ready to share their knowledge with fans who feel like they need to know more to get more out of fandom. Want to figure out how to talk on Tumblr? Find out what’s next in fannish communication? Practice making a vid with a (literal) pro? Fancy crocheting techniques? We’ve got you covered. On Friday at noon, right after the welcome to Escapade panel, join the tech geniuses for a mixer. Find out who they are and what they want to offer, then make a date for later in the con to meet up and teach/learn. If you want to learn something, get in touch and let us know what that is. Someone else is probably an expert, and we’ll try to get you hooked up.
